installation error insufficient memory error android emulator

Learn more about several effective solutions to correct the installation error of the Android Emulator – Insufficient storage capacity installed!

Revision : You will get an INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE installation error on the Android emulator while the application is running. If so, this post suggests several solutions to correct the installation error of the Android INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE emulator. So just go through the station and decide for yourself.

Let’s start with a real-life scenario!

Practical scenario 1: Error in installation by user with insufficient memory during Android ionemulation.

Insufficient memory error with the android emulation ion?

When I start the android ion emulator, the MOT is created and the emulator is opened, but an error message is displayed (Install failure sufficient storage) and the emulator does not display the application.

Practical scenario 2: User experiences insufficient memory problems when installing an application of Android Studio.

Android Studio [Install_Failed_Insufficient_Storage]

I’m having trouble installing the apk application on my phone from android studio. Every time I tried, I got this error message:

09/10 22:40:00 : Performing the application
$ adb push C: UserspokefAndroidStudioProjectsRunescapeappbuildoutputsapkapp-debug.apk /data/local/tmp/com.myapps.myproductions.rsstats.
$ adb shell pm install -r /data/local/tmp/com.myapps.myproductions.rsstats.
pkg: /data/local/com.myapps.myproductions.rsstats.
Failed [INSTALL_INSTALL_STORAGE_INFFICIENT].

$ adb shell pm remove com.myapps.myproductions.rsstats.
DELETE_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR
Error during installation of the MOTCH

I know there’s a lot of clues on the subject, but I’ve tried everything. I’m sure I have enough memory, I’ve cleared all caches, I’ve deleted all previous versions, I’ve changed the manifesto to android:installLocation=preferExternal, I’ve rebooted my phone, etc, so don’t mark this as a duplicate.

This problem only occurred after I changed the package path from com.example.myapp etc. to com.myapps.myproductions.rsstats. I’m sure I’ve adjusted all file paths to this location correctly. What else can I try?

As in the practical scenarios above, many Android developers encounter the INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error when trying to run the application on the emulator.

The error message is displayed as follows: –

Installation error : INSTALLATION_FAULT_OF_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE_INSTALLATION

How can this be corrected?

There are different solutions for different reasons. Let’s get on with the solutions.

Solution 1: Reboot AVD / reload Android emulator or create new AVD

In most cases, restarting the device will automatically repair everything. In this case, you can either restart the AVD (Android Virtual Machine) on which you install the application or test the project.

In some cases the situation is so serious that the emulator also has to be restarted.

However, if you still get the same error, you can delete the DVD and create a new one. Here’s how: Windows >Android SDK AVD Manager >Delete >New.

Solution 2: Increasing the internal memory capacity of the Android Emulator

By default, the internal memory of the Android emulator is 64 MB, which can result in an INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error message.

To solve this problem, you can increase the internal memory of the Android emulator in the Eclipse startup configuration for your Android application with an additional parameter : Partition size 1024.

To do so, follow the steps below:

  • Right click on the root folder of your Android project.
  • Navigate to Run As and then click Run Configuration.

To fix the failed installation of insufficient memory in the Android emulator

  • Select your multiplication in the left window.
  • Then click on the Destination tab. Located on the right side of the window.
  • Scroll down and look for additional command line options for the emulator and add partition size 1024.

  • Finally, click Apply to save your changes and then click Run to use the emulator.

Solution 3: Delete both MOT files

First of all, you need to know how to install or update Android applications. For example, the MOTK file is saved as /data/app/-1.apk (1.apk) when you first install the application. And when the application is updated, the updated MOTK file is saved as /data/app/-2.apk (2.apk).

We need to understand the essence of it now. If the updated application is installed while the old APK file is not being uninstalled, the 1.apk will remain where it was and the system will not place the 2.apk but give the INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error.

Therefore, you need to delete both MOTK files by following these steps:

All you have to do is uninstall the application. Find the path to the two MOT files and use your own method to delete them all.

/data/app/-1.apk

/data/app/-2.apk

You can also delete the two apk files by executing the following command:

ad shell pm deletes
ad shell rm -rf /data/app/-*.

Solution 4: Add android: installLocation attribute

You can also fix the install_failed_insufficient_storage error by adding the android:installLocation attribute.

Here’s how to do it:

In your AndroidManifest.xml file, add android:installLocation=preferred external in the manifest tag.

package=com.packagename.appname
android:versionCode=1″
android:versionName=1.0″
android:installLocation=preferExternal>

Then go to Settings > Memory and click on Data in Cache and delete the data in your device’s cache. This will clear the cache and clear the memory.

Now reconnect your device. Delete your project and restart it on the device. The project works flawlessly on your device.

Completion

I hope the above solutions have corrected the installation error: INSTALL AN INSUFFICIENT STORAGE on the Android Emulator. Just follow the solution in order and see if the problem is solved or not.
