So, are you ready to take a tour of the Wholesale plugin for WooCommerce and see what it’s all about?

Wholesale Overview for WooCommerce: Quick overview of functions

Before we get into the plugin itself, let’s take a quick look at Wholesale for WooCommerce’s features and why it has become so popular since its release.

First, you don’t need to make any major changes to your existing WooCommerce site – the plugin installs on top of your existing system and extends the functionality to support B2B users. That way, you don’t have to worry about redesigning your website, losing important data, or impacting your existing customers.

This feature-rich plugin simplifies the creation of bulk user roles by making bulk pricing available only to those roles. You can define discount rules for each role, and there is a convenient and customizable registration form for wholesalers.

Here is a brief overview of the main features of Wholesale for WooCommerce:

  • Easily create and manage multiple wholesale prices for simple and variable products.
  • Create a private store for your wholesale customers.
  • Add a minimum order size to encourage bulk purchases.
  • Offer percentage or fixed discounts on your bulk items.
  • Provide wholesalers with a special registration form.
  • Create multiple user roles for wholesalers and retailers to help manage and track customer preferences.
  • Role-based pricing.
  • Compatible with other plugins like WooCommerce Subscription for recurring bulk orders, Currency Switcher for WooCommerce, Bulk Variation Forms and Bulk Shop for WooCommerce.
  • Offers retail customers the opportunity to switch from retail to wholesale.

Wholesale setup for WooCommerce

Now that we have a brief overview of WooCommerce’s wholesaling options, let’s get into the details and see how it works.

Preparations for wholesale

The installation of this plugin was, as usual, very easy. After activation, a new wholesale menu field was added to my admin menu. This is where the magic happens!

As usual, let’s start with the basic settings. Most user configurations, registrations and B2B shops can be found here. With most default settings, you can get started without too much trouble. However, the large amount of customization you can do sets Wholesale for WooCommerce apart from other wholesale plugins.

To keep it simple, I set up my store to support only one wholesale role, not multiple. However, if you want your discounts and prices to vary according to the different roles of the wholesaler, the setting is made in the General tab. Here you can also specify which page should be used as the registration page, and enable or disable automatic approval of registration requests.

On the Global wholesale price tab, you can activate wholesale roles and define prices and discounts. As the name implies, this is a global rate.

As you can see, I enabled the default wholesaler role that comes with the plugin and configured the global values and discounts for that role. The Discount Type option allows me to choose the type of discount: percentage or fixed. I chose a percentage and set the wholesale price to 80. The user must make a minimum purchase (minimum quantity) of 15 items to receive a 20% discount.

If you decide to use multiple user roles, you can define prices and discounts for each role here. As mentioned above, the discounts configured here are applied to all products that the wholesaler role has access to. However, if you want to adjust the discounts for individual products, go to the menu of the wholesale pricing plugin and adjust each product.

Back in the Settings menu, the Connection Restrictions tab gives you even more control over specific stores. For example, you can choose to hide sales prices from non-users or even restrict access to your entire store from non-users.

I have found this particularly useful when recruiting new wholesalers. The best part is that I can also create custom posts and limit access to only those who have access to my website and store.

So how is this useful to a wholesaler?

For starters, I can limit access to the wholesale section or wholesale items to certain user roles, while keeping the rest of the store open. Wholesale users can only access the private wholesale store after logging in, as it is password protected. This means that guest users and end users do not have access to wholesale products. However, a nice feature of this plugin is that you can temporarily provide login details to guest users so that they can browse the wholesale store temporarily. It’s a great way to give them a taste of the discounts you offer wholesalers before they get started.

Speaking of access: With Wholesale for WooCommerce, you have more control over who can see your products in the Product Visibility tab.

You can restrict your wholesale products to the wholesale role and leave your retail customers in the dark about what is happening on the wholesale front. You can also choose to apply minimum quantity rules or simply change prices based on the amount of goods in the cart.

Finally, you can allow your retail customers to update their accounts. This can be configured in the Update Settings tab.

You can also configure whether your users should be automatically transferred to a group account or whether they should be manually approved.

If you thought you were done with mass customization, you can do much more. For example, you can control the visibility of a specific product on the Wholesale tab in the current product data.

You can also create product variants that apply only to the user’s wholesale ID, and control prices and labels.

While we’re on the topic of products, let’s touch on orders for a moment – the Wholesale for WooCommerce plugin separates your orders into non-wholesale and wholesale orders for easy tracking and fulfillment.

Registration and obligations of wholesalers

Setting up a wholesaler registration form is simple and does not require coding.

Continued from the article below

Create a new page and assign it to the Registration Page field in the plugin settings. Then edit the page and paste the registration form shortcode to display the user’s bulk registration form.

The registration form derives its configuration from the data you defined in the Registration Setup plug-in menu.

You can change the default fields:

You can also customize additional fields for your form by simply dragging and dropping the desired blocks:

Once your registration form is complete, it’s time to assign roles. Wholesale for WooCommerce comes with a default role, Wholesale. However, you can add multiple roles depending on your B2B store settings in the User Roles menu of the plugin.

The advantage of bulk user roles is that you can control, for example, the specific characteristics of that role. For example, if the users of this role are tax exempt or if you would prefer them not to be eligible for vouchers. Here you can also easily deactivate certain coupons (usually offered to private users) for group roles.

You may also want to disable certain payment gateways or delivery methods for a user’s wholesale role, and this is where you set those preferences. This is especially useful if your wholesale customers are located all over the world. You can also exempt users in a wholesale function from taxes if the purchase of goods in wholesale includes taxes. The reverse is also possible, when you want to exclude all wholesalers except those belonging to a specific role.

Other parameters

Communications

You can choose how and when to send notifications for specific user actions in bulk from the plugin’s Notifications menu.

The subject line and message are fully customizable, so feel free to use them as inspiration!

Questions

The Requests menu displays a list of users who have requested an update. Here you can approve or reject requests.

Integration

Wholesale for WooCommerce works great on its own and supports integration with several other plugins, including the WooCommerce subscription extension.

After installing this extension, create a new variable subscription product and define the subscription prices, cycle and other required attributes. Then go to the Subscription tab in the plugin settings to select the subscription product assigned to all users in bulk.

By integrating this plugin with your wholesale store, you can purchase annual or monthly subscription plans to access wholesale prices. You can manage and create subscription variables for a specific wholesaler role (on the Wholesaler Role page) and set the default role that users receive by default when they unsubscribe.

Other plugins you can use to integrate Wholesale for WooCommerce are Bulk Order Form for WooCommerce, WooCommerce Bulk Variation Forms and Currency Switcher for WooCommerce.
