Windows 10, version 1909

Windows 10 v1909 has the same kernel structure, operating system, and system files as Windows 10 v1903.

Therefore, all cumulative updates that apply to one release are also available for the other release.

Improvements and corrections :

  • Indicates an issue where an administrator in a trusted MIT domain cannot get a Kerberos service ticket from Active Directory domain controllers (DCs). This occurs on devices that have Windows updates installed that contain CVE-2020-17049 security and have PerfromTicketSignature set to 1 or higher. These updates were released between 10. November 2020 and 8. November 2020. December 2020 published. The ticket entry also ends with a KRB_GENERIC_ERROR error if the caller provides a ticket without a PAC (TGT) as the proof ticket without specifying the USER_NO_AUTH_DATA_REQUIRED flag.
  • Fixes security vulnerabilities identified by the security researcher. Due to these vulnerabilities, this update and all future Windows updates will no longer include the RemoteFX vGPU feature. For more information on this vulnerability and how to fix it, see CVE-2020-1036 and KB4570006. Alternative secure vGPUs are available via discrete device allocation (DDA) in Windows Server LTSC (Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019) and Windows Server SAC (Windows Server, version 1803 and later).
  • This is a potential vulnerability for elevating privileges, allowing Azure Active Directory web login random browsing from third-party endpoints used for federated authentication. For more information, see CVE-2021-27092 and CSP Policy – Authentication.
  • Security updates for Windows App, Windows Apps, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Office Media, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Cryptography, Windows AI Platform, Windows Hybrid Cloud Networking, Windows Kernel, Windows Virtualization, and Windows Media platforms and frameworks.

Known problems :

  • System and user certificates may be lost when you upgrade your device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later. Devices are only affected if they already have an earlier cumulative update (LCU) installed on or after the 16th day of release. September 2020, upgrade to a later version of Windows 10 from a media or installation source that does not include an LCU released on or after the 13th day of the month. October 2020 has been released. This occurs primarily when managed devices are updated with outdated packages or media through update management utilities, such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This can also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not contain the latest updates.

Note that devices that use Windows Update for Business or connect directly to Windows Update are not affected. Any device that connects to Windows Update should always receive the latest feature updates, including the latest LCU, without any extra steps.

Windows 10, version 1809

According to Microsoft, users who still own the Windows 10 V1809 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation and IoT Core versions should know that they will reach the end of service as early as November 2020.

Therefore, it is recommended that you upgrade the operating system to a newer, supported version.

This concludes our articles on the latest changes in Tuesday’s patch. Depending on which version of Windows 10 you are using, applying the latest cumulative updates may seem more or less appealing.

However, if you value the safety of your PC and don’t want to fall victim to events like Exploit Wednesday or Uninstall Thursday, you should apply the latest updates as soon as possible.

Speaking of updates: Manually installing cumulative updates from the Windows Update folder is not the only way to update your PC.

Remember, you can upgrade Windows 10 Pc in the following ways:

  • The Windows Update menu of your operating system
  • WSUS (Windows Server Update Service)
  • Group policy configured by your administrators if you are part of a large network.

It is also possible to postpone the upgrade until the change logs are more promising.

Meanwhile, you can protect your system with third-party antivirus programs.
